PHOTOGRAPHY APPS
Better photos start with a clear workflow
Choose a tool for the photograph you want to make. Capture, editing and sharing each need different decisions.
Before you press the shutter
Clean the lens, check the edges of the frame, and decide what the viewer should notice first. Move a little closer or change your position before relying on digital zoom. For a portrait, look for even light across the face. For an object, try a simple background and take a second frame from another angle.
Compare tools by the task
| Task | What to check |
|---|---|
| Quick corrections | Crop, straighten, exposure and white balance controls. |
| Editing a series | Repeatable adjustments and a way to compare frames. |
| Sharing | Export dimensions, compression controls and metadata options. |
| Keeping originals | Whether changes are reversible and originals remain accessible. |
Keep the editing sequence simple
Start with framing and brightness, then correct colour. Apply a filter only after the basic corrections. Compare before and after, especially around faces and skies. Inspect the final file rather than assuming the preview and the export will look identical.
Think about privacy when sharing
Look for addresses, faces, reflections and documents in the frame. Check whether your export includes location metadata if you do not want to share where the photograph was taken. Keep a private original separately from a version prepared for public posting.
